YMCA Red Cross Swim Lessons
WHY SWIM LESSONS? The YMCA has been teaching people to swim for over 150 years, providing individuals the opportunity to enjoy the water in a safe and fun environment. Swimming provides the best bilateral exercise of any sport, developing all muscles evenly. Drowning is the leading cause of death in children aged between 1 and 5 years. Skills will dwindle if swimmers practice only in the summer! Kids need year-round swim lessons to progress. Ensure safe and fun family outings to the pool, lake, and beach this summer, by signing up your child up for Red Cross Swim Lessons at the YMCA today. The YMCA offers the following skill level classes. Parent & Child Aquatics - Helps young children (6-36 months) learn to become comfortable in the water so that they can be ready to learn to swim. Course focuses on building swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water. Level One - Introduction to Water Skills: Helps students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. Level Two - Fundamental Aquatic Skills: Helps students learn success with the fundamental skills so they can swim on their own without the instructor’s aid. Level Three - Stroke Development: Helps students build on the skills learned in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice with the front and back crawl. Level Four - Stroke Improvement: develops confidence in the strokes learned and helps students to improve & learn other new strokes & skills.
